Orcas Island Wedding Dream Come True!
The Orcas Island Chamber of Commerce is creating an opportunity to make our island and its natural beauty known throughout the Northwest as an ideal wedding and/or honeymoon destination. We're creating a top-notch wedding fair to introduce Northwest wedding planners, as well as couples planning to marry soon, to the beauty and amenities available to them on Orcas Island.
Please consider participating in the Second Annual Orcas Island Wedding Fair on Saturday, February 25, 2006. The Fair will take place at Rosario Resort's Discovery House, with a Bridal Salon in the Music Room upstairs at the mansion. Last year, 50 vendors and over 100 attendees were a part of the Fair. With the momentum we built last year, as well as the professional planning services of Seattle-based GEM Events, we expect the 2006 event to be much bigger and better!
Bridal shows are effective in creating new business. Each year, approximately 2.3 million couples get married in the United States. Some facts about the wedding industry:
American couples spend about $7 billion on honeymoons - that's 1.7% of the US travel market (Fairchild Bridal Group American Wedding Survey)
Destination weddings account for more than 9% of all weddings (a 200% increase in the last 10 years)
35% of destination weddings are beach or water-view weddings
Close to 40,000 couples are married in the State of Washington every year
Orcas Island, with its beautiful views, tranquil fields, cozy pond-side gazebos, wooded parks and other locales, provides everything a bride could dream of for a destination wedding!
Close to 300 couples, in addition to wedding planners from the Northwest, are expected to attend the 2006 Wedding Fair. We're also hoping to sign on several big-name sponsors, which will increase the visibility and credibility of this event. If you provide any service or goods related to island weddings, this is the event for you!
